Top 10 Cell phones Safety facts:

1. Keep the handset if possible at least 2 to 7 inches away from your head or use loudspeaker mode. It decreases the transmission of electromagnetic radiation to the brain significantly.
2. Do not keep the cell phones close to your head when sleeping. Switch it off in the night or keep it 1.80 meters or 6 feet away from your head.
3. If keeping cell phones in pocket keep the keypad towards you so that antenna faces away from you.
4. Don’t use cell phones if pregnant. The developing organs of the fetus or child are the most sensitive to any possible effects of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) exposure.
5. Avoid cell phones usage in ‘metal containers’ like Vehicles, Elevators, Airplanes, Trains and any other type of metal container as it increases
the EMR.

6. Avoid using the wired headsets. If you do use headsets use an air
tube headset with ferrite beads. Blue tooth are better as they emit 1/100th the EMR of a normal cell phone. With regular headsets you get 3 times more EMR than if you hold the cell phone against your ear.

7. Cell phones are a big NO for Children under 15 years as currently brain tumors are the second leading cause of death in
children.

 8. Keep cell phones well away from newborns. EMR travel through children’s brains much more easily due to thinner
skulls and hence increases the risk of cancer.

 9. Avoid using cell phones in your pant pocket – as radiation can affect your fertility. Avoid it in breast
pocket if you have a pacemaker.

 10. When buying a cell phone – look for one with a low SAR or Specific Absorption Rate. Lower the SAR number the
better. For example - Popular Motorola Razr V3x
has a SAR of 0.14 – which is amongst the lowest seen recently.

Vital tips for students

The nationwide College Scholastic Ability Test took place, Thursday, and will determine which students get to attend schools of their choice. By applying health sciences to their lifestyles, students can pull up the efficiency of their studying on top of maintaining good condition until the day they get admissions. Professor Lee Jung-kwon and Professor Yoo Jun-hyun at Samsung Medical Center offered some health tips for them.
Sleep at least six to eight hours
To maintain health, one needs adequate rest and sleep, appropriate exercise, and balanced nutrition. The doctors recommend that they sleep between six to eight hours to activate brain cells. Many students sleep for too short a time, but they should know that the human brain needs sleep. What they have studied is organized and memorized in the brain while they are asleep. Sleeping is not wasting time.
If they don’t sleep enough, they can have problems like headaches, dizziness or fatigue. These symptoms can ruin their exam taking. Hence, they shouldn’t study overnight, especially during the exam season. Even if they feel sleepless, they should make the room dark at night and brighten it for the day. Taking a bath and drinking hot milk will help them have a good sleep.
Take a walk or light exercise
Many students may frown at the idea of taking physical exercise as they always feel that they are short of time for studying. However, exercise is effective not only for physical health but also for activating the brain. Among the sensory impulses that the brain senses, the biggest come from the leg muscles, which awaken the brain.
However, they should also avoid sudden and excessive exercise as they can damage muscle and joints on top of tiring themselves too much. Doctors recommend going outdoors and taking a walk or go jogging.
If this isn’t easy for them, stretching indoors can relieve tiredness.
Don’t miss breakfast
Doctors stress that students shouldn’t skip breakfast as it provides fuel for the brain. If they miss breakfast, it means their stomach is empty for over 12 hours. As a result, sympathetic nerves will be activated, making them extremely tense. That will worsen fatigue and make people feel tired, lowering down efficiency.
Hence, those who used to skip breakfast should start having it at least from a week before the exam day as they need time for adjustment. However, they shouldn’t overeat as it would cause blood to head to the stomach from brain, making one over-relaxed and sleepy. They should stop eating when they feel 80 percent full, so as not to weigh on the stomach while helping the brain to be agile.
The diet should be balanced as too much meat won’t help. Vegetarians, meanwhile, should include beans or tofu in their diet and have eggs or milk to avoid deficiencies in essential amino acids.
Handle the stress
Anxiety and stress increase greatly especially ahead of the test. Many people complain of depression, fatigue, tiredness, dizziness, headache and stomachache. They should seek psychological stableness through meditation, deep breathing, or gradual relaxation of the muscles.
Sitting comfortably in a quiet and pleasant place, one can try abdominal breathing deep and slow while closing their eyes. Repeating this for five minutes twice a day will help them relax.
Most headaches come from stress and stiff muscles following excessive tension.Massaging with a steam towel or taking a bath can help.
Rubbing between the eyes or watching the sky or gazing into the distance will also help prevent headaches. When they get extremely stressed, lying down while closing their eyes and stretching may help.
If the headache worsens day by day and is limited to certain area, they should consult a doctor. Brain tumors are rare, but symptoms include a chronic headache and vomiting.
Close your eyes from time to time
The visual organs are the most abused parts in the body while a person is awake as they have to react to the light that continues coming in while the eyes are open. Doctors recommend closing the eyes from time to time. It is the best present a person can offer their eyes. During the night, people may look at the stars in the sky, thinking of their plans for the future.

REMARKS BY PRESIDENT OBAMA AND PRIME MINISTER SHINAWATRA AT AN OFFICIAL DINNER

PRIME MINISTER SHINAWATRA:  President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Excellency, ladies and gentlemen, it gives me a great pleasure to welcome you to Thailand and to be the first country to receive you after your decisive reelection victory.  I hope to make the gala dinner tonight not only a reception for your visit, but also a celebration for your second term in office.  I sincerely believe that your presidency will be a successful one and will be fruitful in enhancing the relationship between our two nations.

I also wish to take this occasion to thank you and your team, in particular Secretary Clinton, for all that she has done to advance Thai-U.S. relations and U.S. engagement with Asia.  Our partnership is exceptional, not only because of the deep historical roots, but also because of strong people-to-people ties based on shared values of democracy and respect for civil liberties.

We appreciate your support in bringing democracy in Thailand back on track.  I hope you continue to do so as Thailand’s democracy still faces many challenges ahead.

In terms of economic relations, as the President and I have discussed today, we will continue to build on a strong foundation in expanding our trade and investment to promote growth and create jobs.  The world is changing fast, and only through trust, partnership can we ensure peace and prosperity for both nations.

Excellency, ladies and gentlemen, for me there is no better way to launch a celebration of our 180th anniversary of relations in 2013 than with this presidential visit today.  May I invite all of you to join me in a toast:  To the good health and success of President Barack Obama, and to the long-lasting friendship between the United States of America and the Kingdom of Thailand.

Cheers.

PRESIDENT OBAMA:  Well, good evening, everyone.  Madam Prime Minister, distinguished guests and ladies and gentlemen, my visit to Thailand is far too brief, but even in my short stay I’ve already felt the extraordinary warmth and kindness and hospitality of the people of Thailand.  Everyone knows that this is the “Land of Smiles,” and I have felt it everywhere that I’ve gone.

I’ve also felt the dignity and strength of this country and its people -- the tranquility and peace that I felt as I had the privilege of walking around the sacred grounds of Wat Pho and gazing up at the reclining Buddha; the compassion and wisdom that you felt in the presence of His Majesty the King, who has devoted his reign to the welfare and development of his people.  We’ve seen it in the resilience that has pushed this nation forward, most recently in the face of devastating floods.

And most of all, I think we all feel here tonight the unique friendship between our peoples.  His Majesty once said that since he was born in America, the United States is “half my motherland.”  And we are just as proud of all the Thai Americans who enrich our country.  In fact, I was mentioning to His Majesty that my friend, Ladda Tammy Duckworth, just became the first Thai American woman ever to be elected to our Congress, and she’s from my home state of Illinois so I’m especially proud of her.

Everything that I’ve felt -- your dignity, your resilience, your friendship, your warmth -- that is the foundation of our alliance.  It’s why you were the first Asian nation to reach out to America after we won our independence.  It’s why in Asia, to this day, we can say Thailand is our oldest friend.  And we are extraordinarily proud of that friendship, and we are especially pleased to see the excellent leadership that, Madam Prime Minister, you are providing as you continue this country’s path of democracy, freedom and development.

So I want to propose a toast:  To the friendship between our peoples, to the strength of our alliance, to the peace and prosperity that we seek, and to Their Majesties the King and the Queen. From VOA Khmer.

7 Common Habits of Unhappy People

“Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking.”
Marcus Aurelius
“Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.”
Marcel Proust
Circumstances can certainly make life unhappy. But a part – often a big part – of unhappiness comes from our own thinking, behavior and habits.
In this article I’d like to share 7 of the most destructive daily habits that can create quite a bit of unhappiness within and in your own little world.
But I’ll also share what has worked, what has helped me to minimize or overcome these habits in my life.
1. Aiming for perfection.
Does life has to be perfect before you are happy?
Do you have to behave in a perfect way and get perfect results to be happy?
Then happiness will not be easy to find. Setting the bar for your performance at an inhuman level usually leads to low self-esteem and feeling like you are not good enough even though you may have had a lot of good or excellent results. You and what you do is never enough good enough except maybe once in a while when feels like something goes just perfect.
How to overcome this habit:
Three things that helped me to kick the perfectionism habit and become more relaxed:
  • Go for good enough. Aiming for perfection usually winds up in a project or something else never being finished. So go for good enough instead. Don’t use it as an excuse to slack off. But simply realize that there is something called good enough and when you are there then you are finished with whatever you are doing.
  • Have a deadline. I set deadlines every time that start with a new premium guide. Because about a year ago, when I was working on my second e-book, I realized that just working on it and releasing it when it was done would not work. Because I could always find stuff to add to it. So I had to set a deadline. Setting a deadline gave me a kick in the butt and it is generally good way to help you to let go of a need to polish things a bit too much.
  • Realize what it costs you when you buy into myths of perfection. This was a very powerful reason for me to let go of perfectionism and one I tell myself still if I find thoughts of perfection pop up in my mind. By watching too many movies, listening to too many songs and just taking in what the world is telling you it is very easy to be lulled into dreams of perfection. It sounds so good and wonderful and you want it.
But in real life it clashes with reality and tends to cause much suffering and stress within you and in the people around you. It can harm or possibly lead you to end relationships, jobs, projects etc. just because your expectations are out of this world. I find it very helpful to remind myself of this simple fact.
2. Living in a sea of negative voices.
No one is an island. Who we socialize with, what we read, watch and listen to has big effect on how we feel and think.
It becomes a lot harder to be happier if you let yourself be dragged down by negative voices. Voices that tell you that life will in large part always be unhappy, dangerous and filled with fear and limits. Voices that watch life from a negative perspective.
How to overcome this habit:
Replacing those negative voices with more positive influences is very powerful. It can be like a whole new world opening up.
So spend more time with positive people, inspiring music and books, movies and TV-shows that make you laugh and think about life in a new way.
You can start small. For example, try reading an uplifting blog or book or listen to an audio book while eating your breakfast one morning this week instead of reading the paper or watching the morning news on TV.
3. Getting stuck in the past and future too much.
Spending much of your time in the past and reliving old painful memories, conflicts, missed opportunities and so on can hurt whole lot. Spending much of your time in the future and imagining how things could go wrong at work, in your relationships and with your health can build into horrifying nightmare scenarios playing over and over in your head. Not being here right now in life as it happens can lead to missing out on a lot of wonderful experiences.
No good if you want to be happier.
How to overcome this habit:
It is pretty much impossible to not think about the past or the future. And it is of course important to plan for tomorrow and next year and to try to learn from your past.
But to dwell on those things rarely help.
So I try as best as I can to spend the rest of my time, the big part of my time each day, with living in the now. Just being here right now and being fully focused on these words I am writing and later as I cook and eat my lunch and work out be fully focused on doing that.
Whatever I am doing I try to be there fully and not drift off into the future or past.
If I do drift off then I focus only on my breathing for a few minutes or I sit still and take in what is all around me right now with all my senses for a short while. By doing either of those things I can realign myself with the present moment again.
4. Comparing yourself and your life to others and their lives.
One very common and destructive daily habit is to constantly compare your life and yourself to other people and their lives. You compare cars, houses, jobs, shoes, money, relationships, social popularity and so on. And at the end of the day you pummel your self-esteem to the ground and you create a lot of negative feelings.
How to overcome this habit:
Replace that destructive habit with two other habits.
  • Compare yourself to yourself. First, instead of comparing yourself to other people create the habit of comparing yourself to yourself. See how much you have grown, what you have achieved and what progress you have made towards your goals. This habit has the benefit of creating gratitude, appreciation and kindness towards yourself as you observe how far you have come, the obstacles you have overcome and the good stuff you have done.
You feel good about yourself without having to think less of other people.
  • Be kind. In my experience, the way you behave and think towards others seems to have a big, big effect on how you behave towards yourself and think about yourself. Judge and criticize people more and you tend to judge and criticize yourself more (often almost automatically). Be more kind to other people and help them and you tend to be more kind and helpful to yourself.
Focus on the positive things in yourself and in the people around you. Appreciate what is positive in yourself and others. This way you become more OK with yourself and the people in your world instead of ranking them and yourself and creating differences in your mind.
And remember, you can’t win if you keep comparing. Just consciously realizing this can be helpful. No matter what you do you can pretty much always find someone else in the world that has more than you or are better than you at something.
5. Focusing on the negative details in life.
Seeing the negative aspects of whichever situation you are in and dwelling on those details is a sure way to make yourself unhappy. And to drag down the mood for everyone around you.
How to overcome this habit:
Overcoming this habit can be tricky. One thing that has worked for me is to kick the perfectionism habit. You accept that things and situations will have their upsides and downsides rather than thinking that all details have to positive and excellent. You accept things as they are. This way you can let go emotionally and mentally of what is negative instead of dwelling on it and making mountains out of molehills.
Another thing that works is simply to focus on being constructive. Instead of focusing on dwelling and whining about the negative detail. You can do so by asking better questions. Questions like:
How can I turn this negative thing into something helpful or positive?
How can I solve this problem?
If I am faced with what I start thinking is a problem I may use a third solution, I may ask myself: who cares? I most often then realize that this isn’t really a problem in the long run at all.
6. Limiting life because you believe the world revolves around you.
If you think that the world revolves around you and you hold yourself back because you are afraid what people may think or say if you do something that different or new then you are putting some big limits on your life. How?
Well, you can become less open to trying new things and growing. You can think that the criticism and negativity you encounter is about you or that it is your fault all the time (while it in reality could be about the other person having bad week or you thinking that you can read minds). I have also found that my own shyness used to come from me thinking that people cared a great deal about what I was about to say or do.
How to overcome this habit:
  • Realize people don’t care too much about what you do. They have their hands full with worrying about their own lives and what people may think of them instead. Yes, this might make you feel less important in your own head. But it also sets you free a bit more if you’d like that.
  • Focus outward. Instead of thinking about yourself and how people may perceive you all the time, focus outward on the people around you. Listen to them and help them. This will help you to raise your self-esteem and help you to reduce that self-centered focus.
7. Over complicating life.
Life can be pretty complicated. This can creates stress and unhappiness. But much of this is often created by us. Yes, the world may be becoming more complex but that doesn’t mean that we cannot create new habits that make your own lives a bit simpler.
How to overcome this habit:
Over complicating life can involve many habits but I’d like to suggest a few replacement habits to what have been a couple of my own most over complicating habits.
  • Splitting your focus and having your attention all over the place in everyday life. I replaced that complicating habit with just doing one thing at a time during my day, having a small to-do list with 2-3 very important items and writing down my most important goal on white board that I see each day.
  • Having too much stuff. I replaced that habit with regularly asking myself: have I used this in the past year? If not then I will give that thing away or throw it away.
  • Creating relationship problems of any kind in your mind. Reading minds is hard. So, instead ask questions and communicate. This will help you to minimize unnecessary conflicts, misunderstandings, negativity and waste or time and energy.
  • Getting lost in the in-box. I spend less time and energy on my email in-box by just checking it once a day and writing shorter emails (if possible not more than 5 sentences.)
  • Getting lost in stress and overwhelm. When stressed, lost in a problem or the past or future in your mind then, as I mentioned above, breathe with your belly for two minutes and just focus on the air going in and out. This will calm your body down and bring your mind back into the present moment again. Then you can start focusing on doing what is most important for you again.

Don’t Give Up

“When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hang on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.”
Harriet Beecher Stowe
Some days are light and filled with inspiration. Some days are simply routine.
And on some days you may feel like just giving up.
Giving up on your new habit of working out or eating healthier. Giving up on your blog or business because you haven’t had the results you expected or wanted. Giving up on feeling better about yourself. Giving up on dating because you can’t seem to find the right person or maybe even have a good date at all.
Winding up in those situations are part of making positive changes in life. But what you do when you feel like giving up will determine a lot about where your life will go.
In today’s article I’d like to share the tips and insights that have helped me to hold on or to change direction on those difficult days.
It’s darkest before the dawn.
This thought has helped me to hold on when things have felt very difficult and I felt like giving up and going home. Because I have found it to be true.
When things seemed to be at the lowest point with my blog and business, with my dating life or with my motivation in life in general something always happened.
Probably quite often because being at that low point forced me to change something in how I did things.
But maybe also because life seems to have some kind of balance if I just keep going. If I just keep taking action instead of giving up and doing nothing then something good always happens.
Seeing this repeat itself strengthened my belief in taking action and to keep going even on rough days or weeks. And it brings some comfort even when things look pretty dark.
Tap into realistic expectations.
This one has also been very important.
Tap into realistic expectations not by listening to advertising that promises you quick results. Not by listening to the perfectionism - from the people around you or yourself - that allows no mistakes or failures.
Tap into it by listening to the people who have already gone where you want to go. Listen to the people who know what works and how you will stumble and fail along the way and can tell you how long your journey may take.
You’ll probably not get an exact blueprint. But the things people can tell you in person or via books and blogs can be a great guidance.
Remind yourself why you are doing this.
It’s easy to lose the big picture in the busy everyday life. But if you feel like giving up then try reconnecting with why you are doing what you are doing.
Write it down. Maybe it is to support and keep your family safe. Maybe it is to live healthier and longer. Or you may do it to see the world and explore new things.
Then, whenever you feel like giving up pull out that piece of paper with your most powerful why(s). It often helps.
Reconnect with the basics or change the path slightly.
When I have run into a plateau or a longer rough patch these two things have been helpful:
  • Simplify and reconnect with the basics. It is easy to become overwhelmed by all the information out there about any change you can make in life. That can lead to confusion and trying to do too many things at once.
In those situations it has been helpful for me to simplify. To just focus on a few or one of the things I have learned are the basic fundamentals in this area of life. To improve my social skills those things were for example to keep a positive attitude and to assume rapport.
  • Learn more and course correct. Reconnecting with the basics often works well. But sometimes it has been helpful to change my course slightly instead. To examine how I do things, what results they bring in and to compare it to how people who have gone before me have done things.
To be honest with myself and admit that maybe one or two things or small parts of that I am doing are not working so well. And to replace those things for a while –  based on what others have done in the past – and see if that works better. Even if it means that I have to get out of my comfort zone.
Just for today!
Here’s a little phrase I got from Brian Tracy that I often use when I’m having a bad day with a new habit. I say to myself: Just for today I will XX!
Replace XX with what you will do just for today such as getting exercise, getting going with the most important task first thing in the day or eating a healthy lunch.
By telling myself that I only have to do it today I release the mental burden of the past times I did it and future times when I will do it. And so the task becomes much lighter and the inner resistance melts away.
Plus, it also reminds me that the period that I am investing in changing a habit is not the rest of my life. After 30 days or so the habit will mostly be automatic so it is not something I have to do on willpower for the next few years or decades.
And guess what, when tomorrow comes I’ll probably have a good day again with less resistance and I will most likely feel like doing the task again.
Quit and try something else.
Sometimes it is not time to give up. But it may be time to quit what you are doing and to try something else.
If you feel like giving up or you are bored a lot, if you feel no real passion or excitement or curiosity about a change or your current path then ask yourself the two questions below. Because then it may be time to quit doing this and to spend your time and energy on something you truly want to do.
Am doing this because I truly want it? Or am I doing it because someone told me to or because so many people around me seem to have done it or are working on it?
What you want isn’t easy to know before you get started though. You may need to try different paths before you find one that fits you. And just because everyone around you seems to love jogging doesn’t mean that you have to love it or that you have to give up on the habit of regular exercise.
Try walking, biking, playing badminton or table tennis instead. Try a new way of doing what you want and see if it is a better fit and more enjoyable for you.

Enduring spirit of Angkor Empire

As Alexandre Henri Mouhot, the Frenchman whose 19th-century ( 1860 ) rediscovery of Cambodia's Angkor temple complex sparked a romantic " See Angkor and die ". But I would like to change his words to “ Before you die you must see the ancient Cambodians carved the sandstone statue.” as seen in the attached. The early 10th century of the beautiful pink sandstone carving at Banteay Srey temple and so on
Have you already seen one of these before friends?

Preparing for an Effective Interview

- Take the time to read and understand exactly what the job is about and what are the set of skills, competencies and knowledge required.
- Understand the reporting relationships to this position. If you are in doubt regarding the job requirements as outlined in the TOR, reporting relationships, situation at the duty station, etc., be proactive and search information regarding the perceived challenges or concerns prior to the interview.
- Utilize your contacts and networks (practice networks, colleagues and counterparts) to discuss what is critical for the position and to seek advice.
- Familiarize yourself with the organizational structure of the duty station.
- Obtain information about the challenges and trends in the job area/specialization that you are applying for by visiting web-sites, reviewing reports and guidelines and consulting with your networks.
- Undertake additional research to be up to date with current development trends
- Prepare for your interview and practice it.

Interview Tips

- Bring copies of your résumé/CV as they will often be referred to by the interviewer
- Think about what an employer wants to know and prepare examples. Build your examples on the CAR formula:

+ Challenge: Relate briefly the situation you faced.

+ Action: Tell what you undertook/did to overcome it.

+ Result: Show the outcome of your action.

- Find a brief story that best demonstrates your ability to do what you say you can do. Be aware of the specific skills your story illustrates.
- Be certain that you hear accurately what your interviewer says; if not, do not be afraid to ask questions. This is especially important in telephone interviews. The best way to do it is to summarize the interviewer's important information and then ask if your summary is correct.
- The 'Tell me about yourself' question would best be answered by claiming your strengths. Try a statement like, 'I am Tanaka Iguchi. My most transferable skills are X, Y and Z; the qualities that I bring to my work are A, B and C; and the one driving force that inspires and guides my life is X'.
- Another option is a 90-seconds introduction:

+ Background/Education (5 seconds)

+ Accomplishments/Work Experience (50 seconds)

+ Current Situation (5 seconds)

+ Future (30 seconds)

- Be prepared to ask appropriate and well thought out questions. As a rule do not ask about salary. For positions, most questions on salary and benefits and also entitlements.
- Be enthusiastic: people love to hire individuals excited about their work unit. Be professional; sit attentively to demonstrate your interest, energy and enthusiasm. Positive nonverbal communication reinforces your verbal message.
- In a competency-based interview, based on the premise that past performance is the best indicator of future performance, be prepared to discuss past performance in detail. To the question 'Tell me about a time when you worked in an ineffective team/less-than-effective team...' explain the situation (don't pick a major disaster and don't dwell on it); always conclude with a positive statement, e.g. 'What I learned from this was...' Golden Rule: never blame someone.
- Where culturally appropriate, maintain eye contact (it shows attentiveness) and pay attention to facial expressions (e.g. a smile reflects interest and enthusiasm).
- Listen carefully. Never interrupt the interviewer; wait for your turn to speak. Make sure you understand a question before you attempt to answer it. It is okay to take a minute to reflect. A minute for the interviewee feels much longer than it does for the interviewer.
- Share information that you feel is appropriate and relevant. Keep to the point. Be as specific as possible.
- Do not try to dominate the interview; let the interviewer guide the questions.
- In a group interview, it is the best to answer the interviewer's questions in turn and maintain eye contact with the individual whose question you are answering. Make an effort occasionally to make eye contact with all of the individuals involved.
- You are being interviewed and observed throughout the time that you visit the organization or unit, not only during the formal office interview. Do not say or do something which may be seen as 'unprofessional'. You are involved in the interview process from the moment you arrive until the time you depart.
- From the moment you apply, throughout the interview and after the interview (letters, communication), you are being observed and considered for a position. Always bear this in mind, especially prior to and after the interview for lasting impressions.
- To the question, usually asked at the end, 'Do you have any questions?' there is only one wrong answer: 'No'. Many hiring managers weigh the questions asked more heavily than the answers provided throughout the interview. Do not worry that asking specific questions might make you sound like you assume you have the position. Such interest helps build your value and shows you are capable and engaging. Note: only ask questions you cannot find answers to by yourself.
- End: At the end of the interview, thank the interviewer(s) for taking the time to meet with you. Make a short, concise summary of your qualifications and stress your interest in the position. You may also want to ask what will happen in the future with respect to your application for the position.

What Not to Do

The following are common mistakes that interviewees often make. Avoid them at all cost:

• Not asking questions;
• Condemnation of past employer;
• Inability to take criticism;
• Poor personal appearance;
• Indecisive, cynical or lazy
• Overbearing, over aggressive, "know it all";
• Being late for interview;
• Failure to look at interviewer while interviewing;
• Inability to express oneself clearly.

After the Interview

Within a few days after your interview (no later than one week), send a short thank-you note or email to refresh the employer's memory of you.

Make an assessment of the interview. It can help improve your technique and continue to build your confidence and skills. Analyzing the interview, talking about how you were feeling during and after it, can be very helpful in preparing for the next interview.

Ask yourself:

• What were my strengths in the interview?
• What did not go as planned?
• What can I do differently next time?

Keep in mind that the art of effective interviewing takes practice.
